Suzanne Clayton, M.B.A. rejoined the Drake University faculty in the fall of 2005. She had previously taught at Drake as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Information Systems in the academic year 1998-99. Ms. Clayton, after graduating from Iowa State University with a B.S. degree in English with minors in Journalism and Industrial Administration, began her information systems career over 25 years ago working in the consulting division of Arthur Andersen & Co (now Accenture). She also worked as an IT consultant for Patterson, Gorup, Illig and Associates (now Cerner, Inc) in Kansas City. After making her way back home to Iowa she worked in the Insurance and Lending industries as a Programming Manager and Project Leader. After receiving her M.B.A. degree from Drake University she began her career in academia teaching for ten years at American Institute of Business, eight years at Iowa State University in the College of Business prior to coming to Drake. During her academic career Ms. Clayton has earned numerous teaching and mentoring awards, most notable being an ISU College of Business VEISHEA teacher of the year award and Outstanding Mentor Award (nominated to the University) for mentoring and sponsoring honors students’ projects. She brings to Drake extensive experience in teaching programming languages, C#.NET, VB.NET, COBOL and many others, also Systems Analysis and Implementation and basic business computer skills. Ms. Clayton has also taught classes for many area organizations, including the Iowa Association of School Business Managers’ Academy (five years) and a custom prepared course for the Ahlers law firm. She is a past Founding Co-President of the Association of Information Technology and Management and continues with many outreach and service activities. Ms. Clayton and her husband live on a farm in rural Iowa with their younger daughter and many animals. Their older daughter and her family are living and working close-by with their new grandbaby. |
